HELPFUL HEATING AND COOLING TIPS:
With proper maintenance, you can extend the life and performance of your heating and cooling equipment.
Here are a few simple steps to get the most from your system: Change your filters every three months at minimum - better every 1-2 months. Use thinner filters in the summer cooling season.
Use a programmable thermostat. Check the thermostat for batteries. If it has them they made need to be replaced from time to time. If your thermostat reads AC this is a power loss. Check to make sure your breakers are on, and are not tripped for some reason.
Always make sure you put the furnace door on properly when after changing filters.
Close the vents in rooms that are not used, especially basement vents in the summer.
Open the basement vents in the winter. Remember heat rises. Avoid blocking vents with furniture or drapery, especially cold air return vents. Have your HVAC dealer perform regular inspections. Cleaning every 2-3 years.
Commercial roof top equipment should be maintained every few months as well, filter changing could be every month depending on the roof top level.
Appliances such as refrigerators should be cleaned underneath from time to time, especially if there are animals in the home. Remember to replace the water filter if you have one in your refrigerator. Dryers should always have the lint filter cleaned after each load.
WHEN SHOULD YOU REPLACE YOUR OLD EQUIPMENT:
Consider the following when making this decision: • Repair Cost vs. Replacement Cost • Age and Efficiency of Old Unit vs. New Unit (Energy Savings) • Warranty Coverage • How long are you going to be in the home? • We can help you design a solution to fit your needs.
CHOOSING THE RIGHT DEALER AND EQUIPMENT:
Do not oversize or undersize the equipment, even though it might be tempting to do so...
You could end up with all kinds of problems such as:
• Short Cycling
• Icing Up
• Unnecessary Wear on the Equipment & MORE
IS THE COMPANY LICENSED AND INSURED THAT IS PERFORMING YOUR INSTALLATION?
CONVENTIONAL VS. TANKLESS WATER HEATERS:
Conventional tank water heaters waste energy by constantly heating water whether you need it or not. The tanks also lose much of that heat through its walls and along the hot water pipes. Purchasing and using a tankless electric/gas water heater versus a storage hot water tank will save you operating dollars in the range of 20-35%.
